Rainbow Meditation: Reflecting on My Own Well-Being

This week, I am going to discuss another type of meditative practice called Rainbow Meditation. This practice focuses on 7 areas of the body and how various colors of the rainbow play into our sense of well-being. After listening to the meditation, I found it to be very relaxing and while my eyes were close, it forced to me to focus on the colors and what they represent. I actually felt and saw the colors in mymind and behind my eyes. As I came back to center and reality, not only did I feel more relaxed, I had a better understanding as to how these meditative practices can be used in everyday life. I recommend this to anyone who is trying to become more familiar with meditation since it allows them a chance to really visualize what is going on and how their body is responding to it.

In response to our questions for class:

If I were to rate my physical well-being, I would probably give myself an 8. My spiritual well being would receive a 6 and my psychological well being would receive an 8. I try extremely hard to promote a healthy lifestyle with physical activity and a healthy lifestyle. A goal that I would like to implement would be to make sure that not only am I getting the appropriate amount of fitness in and healthy diet, I would like to involve my family and friends. Having a support group can help hold one accountable for their actions. My spiritual well being could be reinforced with more chances to attend church and join in groups to discuss how to promote spirituality. My psychological well-being was tested a few years ago and through meditation techniques and deep breathing exercises, I feel that I have a strength in my psyche. It sometimes takes life stressors to give a person a better understanding to how whole body well-being can play on one's health. A goal that I would like to set for my psychological well-being would be to discover more ways that one can help to clear the mind and relax since certain situations could call for different methods of treatment.

Reflection: Journey on Relaxtion

Hey Everyone! A big part of wellness and a healthy lifestyle is creating not only a healthy physical well-being, but also a healthy mind. Being able to decrease the amount of stress that one may have in his or her life can significantly reduce the incidence of disease. For one of my classes at Kaplan University, we were instructed to listen to a relaxation technique and discuss how it made it us feel. The technique that was used is called Autogenic Training. It helps to make the individual more aware of what is going on in their body. While doing this technique, I could really feel a sense of calm wash over me while being in such a relaxed state. I could literally feel my energy flowing from various points in my body. The voice and music in the background was so soothing and melodic. Once the recording was over, my whole body felt at ease and my muscles had such a jelly like feeling. I recommend this link to anyone looking to unwind after a long day, or just to become more ware of their inner self!

Her is the link to a great relaxation exercise!
