Reflection: Journey on Relaxtion

Hey Everyone! A big part of wellness and a healthy lifestyle is creating not only a healthy physical well-being, but also a healthy mind. Being able to decrease the amount of stress that one may have in his or her life can significantly reduce the incidence of disease. For one of my classes at Kaplan University, we were instructed to listen to a relaxation technique and discuss how it made it us feel. The technique that was used is called Autogenic Training. It helps to make the individual more aware of what is going on in their body. While doing this technique, I could really feel a sense of calm wash over me while being in such a relaxed state. I could literally feel my energy flowing from various points in my body. The voice and music in the background was so soothing and melodic. Once the recording was over, my whole body felt at ease and my muscles had such a jelly like feeling. I recommend this link to anyone looking to unwind after a long day, or just to become more ware of their inner self!

Her is the link to a great relaxation exercise!

  2. Jen,

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts of the exercise on your blog. I had the same relaxed yet energized experience by the end of the tape. I noticed on you bio that you are a few weeks away from graduation and then are off to graduate school. Good for you that is so exciting! I am not done until the fall but it is all going by so fast. I wish you the best and look forward to reading your blog!

  3. I agree with you that I felt a huge sense of relaxation while listening to the video. I think people are all too often not aware of what all stress is doing to their bodies and until they find the main source it is going to keep eating at them until they are so sick they can't do much about it. I think we all should take time out of our day and learn to relax a little! Thank you for this information!

    1. Your welcome :) I had my boyfriend and parents try this technique out as well and they did experience some similiar results. Its amazing to think that with just a little assistance, we can really rty and get a better grip on the effects of stress.

  4. The relaxation exercise was a tough one for me at first. My mind is constantly going and I never have time to relax. This time I put the kids to bed and turned off all the lights and focused. It actually worked so well as I listened that I feel asleep and woke up feeling great! I will probably use this technique quite often now! I usually stay up late getting things together for my children, housework, school and a million other things, but I need to relax and feel good more often!

  5. Hello Jen,
Having a healthy physical well-being and a healthy mind is very important. Having to much stress in your life can affect both your mind and body. Listening to the exercise video really helped me relax and put something in perspective and because of that I came up with some great ideas to resolve the problems I have that was causing me stress. This was a great relaxing piece.
